Irish man Rory McHugh climbing Mount Vinson in the Antarctic. Rory is on a quest to climb the highest mountain on all seven continents. Mount Vinson, which at 4,892m is the highest mountain in Antarctica, is number six on his list. Although the expedition was in 24-hour daylight, the sun simply going behind a cloud could lead to the temperature instantly dropping 20 degrees or more. The climb was eventually completed in temperatures of -40 to -45 degrees and winds of 30-40km/h

Aoibhe Featherstone, the granddaughter of John and Pat Hume has a first look at the historic Peace Collection belonging to the Hume family that were unveiled on permanent display during a special event with the Hume Foundation at the Guildhall in Derry on Saturday. The special collection includes the 1998 Nobel Peace Prize, the Martin Luther King Jnr Prize bestowed in 1999 and the Mahatma Gandhi Peace Prize awarded in 2001. The evenings consisted of Christmas-themed stalls offering lots of seasonal goods, delicious food and drink, live performances, festive character meet and greets, and lots more entertainment to spread the festive cheer in Tralee .
