Tell us about yourself, where you’re from and what you studied in college
I am Molly Sheridan, 23 years old from Galway City. I am currently working as a consulting analyst within the systems engineering team.
I studied Commerce as my undergraduate degree at National University of Ireland, Galway, where I discovered my interest in pursuing a career in technology, so I completed my master’s degree in information systems management, also at NUIG.

Housing in Ireland is among the most expensive and most affordable in the EU. How does that happen?
I learned about Deloitte at college, they sponsor the new BComm Global Business programme, and from grad fairs, hiring events, hearing great things about the firm, particularly the graduate programme.
A friend joined Deloitte’s grad programme a year before me and immediately loved it so, I looked further into it and saw their technology consulting graduate programme which was exactly what I wanted to do.
What is the graduate programme like?
It is very well-structured. For the first two years you are an analyst, and then move on to work on a consultant level. I started in September 2021 with 60 other graduates all working as analysts in different areas of consulting.
We are constantly being offered different learning opportunities and training modules; we have been working on a great variety of clients and projects, and had several events organised for us over the last seven months. The programme allows you to choose the areas you want to gain experience in, and you are encouraged to take part on trainings in these focus areas.
Explain what the work experience was like
I started my first client project straight after induction; it was with a well-known tech company, where I was working on a reporting team. The training I got was very thorough, and the team was always supportive, helping me with anything I was unsure of.
Once this project finished, I had the chance to undertake the Robotics Process Automation (RPA) training, as I heard it was a hugely in demand area and I knew other analysts were enjoying working on. I completed the RPA training, and I am now working on a Robotics Team project, within the healthcare sector.
What do you plan to work as after the programme and why?
I plan to progress in the technology area as a consultant within the firm. I chose to apply to Deloitte as here you are not just tied to one client or area, you can work on a variety of projects with interesting clients throughout your career. I hope to stay in this agile working environment, continuing to learn and grow on each new project.
What’s your advice to graduates applying to the programme?
My advice would be to be honest and have clear goals on areas you would love to work in and learn about. Be true to yourself and specific on what you would love to learn more in and why.
