KNITWEAR CENTRE TAKES OFF IN DOOLIN

A knitwear visitor centre is opening this month in Doolin, Co Clare. The initiative of Diarmuid Neilan of Ekotree knits will show the history of Irish traditional knits in a working environment. Using modern manufacturing and finishing processes, it will demonstrate how intricate heritage stitches are translated into fabric. Ekotree sources fine natural yarns worldwide from sheeps wool and alpaca, to merino, cashmere and linen for its knitwear. This shawl is photographed with Toto, a rescued barn owl from Animal Magic in Killaloe. The new centre will be in Ballyvoe, Doolin, Co Clare. ekotree.ie

RIDING MOTIF SILK SCARF FROM RYDER

The latest Irish fashion collaboration is between milliner Martha Lynn and the bag and scarf designer Lisa Ryder who have joined forces to create a limited edition scarf.

The scarf combines a strong graphic design in bold colours of black, yellow, red and white and, with a nod to Lynn’s love of the races, horse silhouettes. It measures 100cm x 100cm in 100 per cent silk, is made in Italy and on sale for €180 in Lisa Ryder’s online store at lisaryderdesigns.ie/shop.

It can be worn in several different ways, as a front-knot turban, tied either in front or at the back of the neck.
