Frockadvisor: the perfect jeans

Skinny jeans are part of who I am (sometimes, literally). We rejected boot-cut, even when worn by Anna Wintour, are you seriously telling me that denim is going sloppy?

Skinny jeans are part of who I am (sometimes, literally). We rejected boot-cut, even when worn by Anna Wintour, are you seriously telling me that denim is going sloppy?

Yes, we alluded to it above already, yet again the sands have shifted. The skinny jean, regardless of your body shape has become the staple default. We get it, in general, they are going to make you look slimmer, particularly in a dark colour. Go black, go indigo we told you, wrap yourself in a dark pool of lycra imbued denim, go as long in the leg as you can bear and for the love of God, avoid muffin top.

Well, when the fashion avant-garde get their mitts on it, it's not about slimming. Slim is a given, one must exercise control, control at all times, never too rich or too thin, rice cake anyone?
So what better way to show you're thin than by wearing oversized jeans that look like you robbed them from your fella. Don't go long, oh no, again flattery is not the main objective. Instead let the curled hem hover above a finely turned ankle and slim foot encased in the finest Italian A-grade leather sitting atop the spindliest of heels. So they are oversized and cropped, sweet baby Jesus we hear you cry, they have to at least be dark! Nope. They are, wait for it, heavy washed pale denim. It gets worse, they may even be, wait for it, distressed. Like you are right now, at the multitude of heinous crimes of denim, about to be inflicted on your person. 7 for All Mankind from Brown Thomas and AG Jeans and J Brand from Seagreen offer a variety of options based on your ability to deep dive into a trend.
The good news is we live in a democracy, where freedom of choice is (more or less) written into our constitution. You don't have to wear what the cool kids are wearing. You can choose to wear clothes that are tasteful and flattering, sure if that's the way you want to roll, go for it.
