Dundrum Town Centre was quiet, almost deserted, yesterday when Harvey Nichols staged an early morning private boutique preview of its autumn/winter womenswear collections.
The three models, who included new Miss Ireland Jessica Hayes, were dressed under headings such as Winter Prints, Statement Dress and Animal Crossing.
Elegantly styled by Annmarie O’Connor using black lace eyemasks for dramatic effect and well-chosen accessories, it was all very ladylike.
Special items from leading international brands such as Givenchy, Lanvin, Peter Pilotto, Mary Katrantzou and Proenza Schouler were flown in specially for the event to highlight the store's Click and Collect service from its website, which was launched in June.
Apart from some predictably lavish red carpet gowns – particularly one in floor-length chiffon by Alexander McQueen (€2,545) – daywear dominated.
There was an adroit mix of pricey ensembles such as the Peter Pilotto geometric print full skirt and top (€1,460) and a flower print dress with similar silhouette and colours by Caractere at €380.
Dresses and skirts were either full and mid-length or sheath, including a standout black crepe number by Givenchy with zip detailing, priced at €1,490.
For coats, soft texture rather than severe tailoring was the story, the prime examples being one from Lanvin in supershaggy green mohair at €3,550 and another in multicoloured mesh by Givenchy (€2,095). A faux-fur bolero by DKNY (€300) topped a tweed sheath (€440) while Pinko’s real-fur gilet (€961) was belted over a polo neck (€85) and leather leggings (€1,295).
