1. The Irish presence making a more forceful mark at every level, from established stars like Simone Rocha and J W Anderson, to the talented newcomers at the International Fashion Showcase and the two-day installation of Richard Malone from Wexford at Old Street tube station showing a collection of contoured dresses using fabrics salvaged from landfill.

2. The touching tribute by Alber Elbaz of Lanvin at the memorial service in St Paul’s for Prof Louise Wilson and the lone horsewoman dressed in black side saddle outside the cathedral afterwards.

3. The handwork at Burberry alongside Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow sung by Claire Maguire with its reference to things made to last.

4. The discovery that 20,000 tickets have already been sold for the forthcoming Alexander McQueen exhibition at the V & A next month.
