One of the talking points at Paris fashion week was Dries Van Noten’s spectacular catwalk – a handtufted woodland carpet specially commissioned for the show from Buenos Aires based artist Alexandra Kehayoglou.
Here in Dublin, a number of striking Irish made handtufted and guntufted carpets by Ceadogan of Wexford are currently on display in The Listening Suite, which is situated over the Camper store on Wicklow Street.
“Beautiful rugs look great on white walls” says Jonathan Ford who set up the suite to get people “to get the damn sounds off their phones and onto hi fi systems”.
The rugs by four designers include those by talented NCAD graduate Katie Hessian and five circular pieces by the ceramicist Andrew Ludick (right) and they’ll be staying on those white walls – rather than on the floor – for quite some time.
