Did you know that today marks the 10th anniversary of the release of
Mean Girls
? You didn’t? As
Regina George
would say, “Boo, you whore”.
The film, written by Tina Fey and starring Lindsay Lohan (a creative partnership that, sadly, we may never see again), was the perfect display of the backhanded, toxic teen friendships that are spawned all over the globe. Swap the convertibles for the 79 bus, and the film could have been set in Inchicore instead of Illinois.
Despite the fact that mid-2000s teen style was awful (may we never buy velour sweatpants every again),
Mean Girls
still holds us by the throat.
Today is Wednesday, “and on Wednesdays we wear pink”. Heels aren’t so cool any more, but we think Regina would approve of these Nike kicks. Pair with a Topshop mini-skirt and a Sister by Sibling intarsia knit for a full-on Plastics explosion.
