Trinity student Shíofra Clare O’Toole Jey is our focus for this week. With hailstones one minute and stone splitting sun the next, it can often be hard to know how to dress.
We chatted to Shíofra about her inspirations for her summer outfits. She is keeping it simple for now but has some great ideas in mind for when we can depend on the heat to stick around.
Tell us about your outfit?
I like to dress quite minimally when the weather lets me get away with it – anything high-waisted matched with any kind of barely there.Backless or off-the-shoulder tops are my absolute favourites. This coat is my find of the moment too – it cost me €3 in a charity shop in town and it’s so warm!
Blue Mom Jeans - TopShop
White slip top – Zara
Boots – Public Desire
Lipstick – MAC Lady Danger
How would you describe your personal style?
I go from Chiara Ferragni type outfits with lots of bold colours/prints and bright sunglasses to really minimal and simple outfits – kind of like my outfit here. It really just depends on how I’m feeling that day, or maybe what I’ve seen on Instagram that week and really liked the look of. I’d say in general my style is quite girly – but I tend to dress everything down with runners! Jumpsuits, co-ords or anything backless or off-the-shoulder are my absolute favourites.
What are you most looking forward to about summer?
I’m going to be in America all summer and cannot wait to be able to wear whatever I’d like without the limitations of our Irish weather. I’ve been keeping an eye on all the Coachella fashion trends at the moment – I absolutely adore all the delicate lace crops and bell sleeves. My favourites are Kendall Jenner, Jamie Chung and Chanel Iman. And Chiara Ferragni of course – she’s the queen of effortless beauty and cool!
