The Nation's Favourite Food Fast!, written by Neven Maguire and published by Gill & Macmillan (€22.99), has won the cookbook category at the Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards. The Avonmore cookbook of the year winner is a new collection of 100 recipes that are aimed at cooks in a hurry.

“What I have noticed more than ever from talking to people in recent months is the incredible time pressure modern life has placed on us,” Maguire says. “That’s why I’ve devised this cookbook. Every recipe in this book is doable and ready for the table in under an hour – most of them simply require 30 minutes.”

This is the 11th book from Maguire, who earlier this year opened a cookery school alongside his restaurant MacNean House in Blacklion, Co Cavan.
