Sherry FitzGerald won the annual estate agents tennis tournament for the fourth time when they beat Hooke & MacDonald in the final at Lansdowne Lawn Tennis Club. The event last weekend, which is sponsored by The Irish Times, was first held in 1989 and has become the traditional end-of-summer fixture for many Dublin agents before the busy autumn selling season.

This year, 13 teams took part in the tournament including a team from outside Dublin, Quinn Brothers from Longford.

The 13 teams were drawn in two groups and the two leading teams in each group qualified for the semi-finals.

The Law Society and Hamilton Osborne King emerged from one group, while Sherry FitzGerald and Hooke & MacDonald emerged from the second group.

A close-run match between the mixed doubles pairing of Maeve Cantwell and Ronan Rooney, of Hooke & MacDonald, and Laura Mulleady and John Walshe, of Sherry FitzGerald, produced a 7-5 victory for Sherry FitzGerald.

The final match was the women's doubles in which Aine Neill and Mary Creed, of Sherry FitzGerald, had a 6-4 win over Hooke & MacDonald's Sheelagh Lacy and Suzanne Elliott.
