Tuesday (Dec 2nd) De Veres, Art & Design Auction, Bewley's Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin. 70 per cent of lots sold. Mayo Road by Donald Teskey €19,000 (€20,000-€30,000); Blue Nude with Dancing Pierrot by Gerard Dillon €19,000 (€20,000- €30,000); and, Daydreamer by Martin Gale 9,500 (€8,000- €12,000). Ten of the 12 Markey Robinson paintings sold but not the top lot, Unloading the Catch which was estimated at €14,000- €18,000. For full results see deveres.ie

Tuesday (December 2nd) Victor Mee Auctions, Cloverhill, Belturbet, Co Cavan. An enamel shop sign for M & P Hanlon Ltd, Fish, Game & Poultry Merchants, Moore Street, Dublin where "some of the 1916 Rising leaders made their last stand before surrendering" €550 (€400- €600).

Wednesday (December 3rd) Sotheby's, London. An 18th century marble bust of Homer by English sculptor Francis Harwood, "discovered in Ireland", £242,500 (£70,000- £100,000).

Forthcoming Auctions: Sunday (December 7th) Hegarty Auction Rooms, Bandon, Co Cork. Auction of antiques and collectibles at 3pm. A silver parasol handle made, circa 1900, by the Hong Kong and Canton silversmith and retailer Kwan Ho, €800-€1,200. (see pic, left).
