Saturday (May 6th): Whyte's, 38 Molesworth Street, Dublin 2. The Eclectic Collector; 75 per cent sold for a total of €320,000. Top lots: lot 235, a seated bronze figure of the goddess of compassion, Guanyin, made €9,000 (estimate €200 - €300); lot 35, Bonds of the Irish Republic issued by the Fenians in the US in 1866, made €8,500 (€8,000 - €10,000); lot 43, champion red setter Garryowen's silver collar sold for €6,600 to a collector in Texas (€800 - €1,200); lot 241, Japanese executioner's sword, made €5,000 (€3,000 - €5,000); lot 240, Japanese court sword in orange lacquer saya, made €3,800 (€2,000 - €3,000); lot 243, Japanese in holding scabbard, made €3,500 (€2,000 - 3,000). Lot 220, a Victorian bronze mortar and pestle, made €3,400 (€100 - €150) and Lot 272, John Minihan's iconic photograph of Samuel Beckett in a Paris cafe, sold for €2,700 (€1,200 - €1,500).
