Tuesday and Wednesday (June 27th & 28th): Sheppard's "Great Irish Country House Collections" auction at Coolattin House, Shillelagh, Co Wicklow.. 86 per cent of the 1,341 lots sold. Furniture highlights: Lot 1,217, a pair of 19th century carved giltwood console tables, each with a rectangular veined green marble top and carved apron featuring a lion mask €48,000 (€40,000-€60,000) [see pic]; Lot 1,035, a 19th century desk described as "Ormolu Mounted Kingwood and Parquetry Bureau Plat" €36,000 (€30,000-€40,000); and, Lot 628, a 19th century satinwood and marquetry "Carlton House" desk €18,500 (€15,000-€25,000). Lot 826, a late 17th century Brussels tapestry, made €26,500, almost three times the top estimate (€6,000-€9,000). Among the paintings, Lot 193, Study of a Female Nude – an unframed oil-on-canvas "attributed to" Roderic O'Conor made €7,500 (€2,000-€3,000) suggesting that the bidder believes it to be by the artist; and, Lot 397, an English School oil-on-canvas by an unknown artist, possibly Victorian, entitled Mediaeval Narrative Scene €12,000 (€10,000-15,000). Among the garden statuary and sculpture: Lot 687, a life-size, Portland stone seated wild boar €2,400 (€2,500-€3,500); Lot 738, a bronze life-size figure of a wild boar standing €2,600 (€1,000-€1,500); Lot 757, a pair of large Portland stone dogs €4,000 (€2,500-€3,500); and, Lot 764, a pair of French, cast-iron seated hounds €1,600 (€1,500-€2,500). Other interesting prices: Lot 831, a life-size taxidermy mountain goat €2,600 (€3,000-€5,000); Lot 878, "Boneshaker" bicycle €3,200 (€800-€1,200); Lot 355, an Aboriginal "Signed' Didgeridoo" €180 (€120-€180); and Lot 411, an "Antique Aboriginal Boomerang" €360 (€150-€250). Among the unsold was Lot 161, a 19th century walking cane with a handle that incorporates a double-ended, silver topped scent bottle (€500-€700 ).

Tuesday (June 27th): John Weldon Auctioneers, Cow's Lane, Temple Bar, Dublin. Auction of jewellery, silver, gold coins and collectibles. A diamond line bracelet, containing 48 diamonds €2,500 (€2,500-€3,500); an Irish silver sauceboat made in Dublin 1904 by Charles Lamb €360 (€150-€250); a gold guinea, dated 1786, €510 (€300-€500); a collection of Orange Order sashes, €60 (€25-€45).

Tuesday (June 27th): Sworders' Fine Art Auctioneers, Stansted, Essex, England. Lot 199, A domed-top box, South German, 16th Century, inlaid with 273 engraved small bone panels originally in Brackenstown House, Swords, Co Dublin, sold for £15,168 (€17.2k), a hammer price of £12,000 (€13.6k) plus buyer's premium, way above the estimate (£3,000-£5,000).

Sunday (June 25th): Hegarty's Auction Rooms, The Bypass, Bandon Co Cork. Lot 41, a 19th century longcase grandfather clock €3,000 (€2,500-€4,000); Lot 9, a rosewood "Campaign secretaire chest" €2,750 (€1,600-€1,800); Lot 62, a 19th century Irish console table €2,300 (€2,000-€3,000); Lot 50, a mahogany Irish sideboard, made circa 1810, €2250 (€2,000-€3,000); Lot 64, a William IV square side-table €2,050 (€2,000-€3,000); and, Lot 87, a cased French desk set with seal, letter opener, book-marker, pencil and pen decorated in the Art Nouveau style €280 (€300-€400).
