Final day of viewing at Slane Castle for Adam’s Country House Collections sale

A previously unpublished photograph of a young, and then unknown, Oscar Wilde on the steps of Ashford Castle catalogues between €5,000 and €8,000

Today is the final day of viewing at Slane Castle, Co Meath for Adam's Country House Collections sale where more than 800 lots are on view between 11am to 5pm. Entry is by catalogue – which costs €20 – and there's free parking and catering on site.

From the M50, Slane Castle can be reached by leaving the M1 (Dublin to Belfast motorway at Junction 10, Drogheda) or via the N2 through Ashbourne.

The auction takes place on Sunday and Monday beginning at noon each day. Adam’s is expecting a large crowd including many bidders from overseas. Online bidding is available via the-saleroom.com.

Among many highlights is a 19th century photograph album which belonged to Lady Ardilaun which contains a previously unpublished photograph of a young, and then unknown, Oscar Wilde on the steps of Ashford Castle (€5,000-€8,000); a marble bust of Sir Benjamin Lee Guinness by sculptor John Henry Foley (€20,000-€30,000); and a pair of early Victorian English library globes by Newton & Son, London €15,000- €25,000.
