Busy line up of auctions gets underway tomorrow

The first Irish auction of 2015 will take place tomorrow when Dolan’s Art Auction House holds an art and antiques sale in the Rochestown Park Hotel in Cork, starting at 2pm. Viewing is today.

Among the artists represented are John Kingerlee, Mark O'Neill, Arthur Maderson, Norah McGuinness, Kenneth Webb, Jack Charles Harper, Frank Egginton, Henry Morgan, Ian Cryer and Brian Bourke.

Highlights include Ballyconneely Horse Fair by Kenneth Webb, estimated at €9,000-€12,000; The Weir at Lismore by Arthur Maderson (€3,000-€5,000) and, more afffordably, Suburban Villa by Michael Morris (€400-600).

There’s also an antiques fair tomorrow at Dublin’s Clontarf Castle Hotel, from 11am-6pm.

Hibernian Art & Antiques Fairs have a two-day art and antiques fair in Moran’s Silver Springs Hotel in Cork next weekend, Saturday and Sunday, January 24th and 25th, from 11am-6pm each day.

Exhibitors include the books, antiques and prints dealers Roger Grimes and Vanessa Parker, who will show "an eclectic range of antiques" including an Irish famine chair circa 1850, Victorian brass padlocks, antique fishing tackle, an officer's campaign Tantalus and a Victorian hearing aid.

Most of the major fine art and antiques auctioneers are now accepting final consignments for the spring season of auctions which begin next month.

The first confirmed dates to be announced are for an Irish & International Art auction at Whyte’s on February 23rd in the RDS, Dublin and a three-day auction at Sheppard’s in Durrow, Co Laois, commencing on Tuesday, March 3rd.
