Viewing begins tomorrow, Sunday, at Adam's on St Stephen's Green for the Important Irish Art auction that takes place there on Wednesday evening.

The highest-estimated lot is a painting dated 1951 by Colin Middleton titled Girl With Owl (€40,000-€60,000). Sailing Boat On A Lough by Paul Henry, described as "from the collection of George & Maura McClelland and on loan from them to IMMA from 1999-2004", is €30,000-€50,000.

Among other highlights is The White Mar e by Patrick Hennessy (€4,000-€6,000) and Still Life of Flowers in Mirror by William John Leech (€10,000-€15,000).

Two paintings at different ends of the price spectrum are likely to induce pangs of nostalgia from anyone who has lived the emigrant life in London. Last Customers at the Philbeach by Henry Robertson-Craig (€500-€700) depicts closing time in a famous Earls Court pub, long a haunt of Irish expatriates; and, In the London Flat by Gerard Dillon (€20,000-€30,000) which shows the interior of the Northern Irish artist's temporary home in 1950s Abbey Road, Camden.
