An 18-storey hotel and a 16-storey residential building form part of Galway developer John Lally's plans for a site at the Sandyford Business Estate in Dublin 18.

Last year Lally's Lalco paid €100 million for the FAAC Electronics site located off Sandyford Road on Dublin's southside.

The prime five-acre site is located across the road from the Central Park complex in Sandyford which is home to the Irish headquarters of Vodafone and Bewley's Leopardstown Hotel. Leopardstown Racecourse is also close by.

Lally plans to build 579 apartments and a 189-bedroom hotel on the site.

Some 9,575sq m (103,064sq ft) of office space, two retail units, a health spa, crèche and 980 car-parking spaces will also be provided if the scheme gets planning approval from Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

Last month the council rejected plans for Paddy Shovlin's Sandyford Gateway development, which included a 23-storey tower.

A development framework report for the Sandyford area is currently being prepared by UK company Urban Initiatives for Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

Lalco was behind an apartment scheme called Vantage at Central Park in Leopardstown.

Lally is also behind two new Hilton hotels planned for Limerick city and Kilmainham in Dublin and the Harbour Hotel in Galway.
