Trending . . . Beautiful built-in cabinetry
Built-in cabinetry is an under-appreciated art, especially for those living in period homes where contemporary off-the-shelf products don't take into account period features like coving and picture rails. Interior designer Eoin Lyons' (eoinlyons.com) cabinet-maker is Robert Trench (087-3952621 studiotrench.ie). His works have a lightness of touch that make pieces seem to float, he inlays wardrobes with brass and creates secret TV units that tilt and turn to reveal the TV only when you want to watch it, keeping it concealed from view so it doesn't blight your balanced decor.

For Trench, who has a background in office furniture, the wiring and cable management element is a dawdle. The wardrobe pictured, 245cm by 120cm, designed by Lyons, is in a teen bedroom. It costs €2,270. Delivery and installation within the greater Dublin area costs upwards of €250.
