Kitchenworks is the definitive digital directory for anyone looking for a new kitchen or to refresh their existing one, says director Chris Maxwell, who set up the portal about a year ago.

“It offers homeowners the chance to do all their homework, checking out suppliers and the styles they provide from the comfort of their own home before hitting the showrooms.”

It’s a smart move, for as any battle hardened buyers will know that you can lose entire weekends to navigating poorly signposted industrial estates to view the designs for real.

With the average kitchen now costing €10,000 (including countertops and appliances), according to Maxwell’s industry research, it makes sense to view and call before visiting any of the 430 kitchen companies and hundreds of tilers, appliance and countertop suppliers listed.

The portal lists a wide range of suppliers by location, so you don’t have to sift though the endless Google ads to find what you’re looking for. You can search by town and by county.

All the companies listed by Kitchenworks are what Maxwell describes as “professional kitchen companies who have made a capital investment in showrooms that are open during office hours and who have a website”.

For this venture Maxwell, who formerly worked in financial services, is in partnership with Wally Kavanagh, who ran Domino Design, a kitchen manufacturer and retailer, for almost 30 years.

Approximately 40,000 kitchens are sold per annum, Maxwell says. The site also features advice on how to design your space and how to work out a budget for the project.
