New home buyers want connectivity and green spaces for their children to roam and the location of Gandon Park, a brand new Cairn development of three- and four-bed houses opposite the soon-to-open Airlie Park, will tick a lot of those boxes.
The 11-hectare park, due to open later this year, will include floodlit all-weather pitches, basketball and tennis courts and a full-size cricket pitch.
Gandon Park is situated across the road and with 40 homes launching in this phase the scheme will accommodate 200 homes when complete. It is named after architect James Gandon, who designed Dublin landmark buildings such as the Custom House and Four Courts.

Cairn, through architects McCrossan O’Rourke, has completed a scheme that features lofty ceiling heights, large windows to wash rooms in light and well proportioned square living rooms, to better accommodate furniture layouts.
Carol Anne Layden of CA Design brings fresh thinking to the show home decor, and it strikes you from the minute you enter the spacious hall of the four bed property where tiny timber shelves appear to float from the wall. Just big enough to fit a scented candle, a tiny houseplant or a set of house keys they set a playful tone.
The houses are spacious, stretching to 6m wide and there is a sense of scale in the 2.6m ceiling heights at entrance level. The square living room, set to the front is a lovely shape and size to accommodate furniture.
The kitchens, designed by Nolan Kitchens, feature a separate utility and in the three-bed units , the positioning of the wall units and island to either side of a tall window, 2.4 m high, is a really clever way to bring natural light into the heart of the task areas; the hob, set against the exterior wall and the sink on the island opposite.
The mid terrace three-beds are from €350,000; end-of-terrace, from €355,000 and semi-detached options, from €350,000, and range in size from 113-116 sq m /1216-1248sq ft.
The four beds have three good sized double bedrooms, each with three-doors of wardrobe space, and a single. The family bathroom has a separate shower and bath.
Prices for the mid terraced units start from €395,000; end-of-terrace houses from €400,000; while semi-detached units start from €415,000 and detached from €440,000. These range from 137-139 sq m/ 1474-1496sq ft and are for sale through agent Hooke & MacDonald.
Also nearby is Cairn’s other Lucan scheme, Shackleton Park. Launched two years ago its two-bed apartments are selling from €285,000, and three-bed terraced homes from €350,000 while the four-bed terraced properties are from €395,000 through the same agent.
Lucan village is a 25 minute walk. Adamstown train station is currently a 20-minute walk but this will shorten to under 15-minutes once the new road, Adamstown Boulevard, opens. In the car it’s about a six-minute drive.
