New Ross: from €141,900: A Section 23 apartment scheme in New Ross, Co Wexford hits the market this week for the first time with prices starting at €141,500.

Joint selling agents Sherry FitzGerald Purcell (Waterford), P N O'Gorman (New Ross) and Hooke & MacDonald (Dublin) are launching the first phase of 40 apartments at The Moorings, which is a waterside development within walking distance of the centre of New Ross.

One-bedroom apartments of 38 sq m (410 sq ft) cost from €141,500 and two-bedroom apartments of 55-86 sq m (600-930 sq ft) are priced from €169,500. Situated over ground floor retail units, The Moorings is a 97-apartment scheme with plenty of car-parking for residents.

Most apartments have a balcony, lifts service each floor, all two-bedroom units have an en suite, and there is a first floor landscaped deck area for residents while some units also have private roof gardens.

Designed by architects Patrick Hally & Associates and developed by TALC Development Co Ltd, The Moorings is situated on a landmark site at the entrance to the town.

There are plenty of local amenities nearby, including golf, beaches on the Hook Peninsula, the Blackstairs Mountains, fishing on the Nore and Barrow, and lots of water-based sports.

New Ross, which is 25 kms from Waterford city, 35 km from Wexford town and 40 km from Kilkenny city, is a port town in the process of rejuvenation.

A marina is due to be built this year beside The Moorings and there are plans to decentralise civil service jobs to New Ross, Enniscorthy, Waterford and Wexford.
