103 apartments and 26 houses planned for site in Goatstown: O'Malley Construction Company Ltd is about to come back with a new planning application for a development at Knockrabo in Goatstown, Dublin 14.

The proposal is for a mix of 103 apartments and 26 houses. The apartments are to be in six blocks with a mix of one, two and three-bedroom units and three-bedroom duplexes.

There would also be four and five-bedroom houses, and vehicular and pedestrian access would be via Heidelberg in Ardilea. The 2.08-hectare site is bounded by Salzburg, Salamanca Heidelberg and Ardilea Downs.

O'Malley construction was previously turned down for a scheme of 159 residential units on the same site by An Bord Pleanála. A proposal by Niall Mellon's Knockrabo Developments to build over 360 units on a separate site at the former Bank of Ireland sports ground was also given the thumbs down by the planning board.

173 homes for Adamstown

Castlethorn Construction is to apply for planning permission from South Dublin County Council for a development of 173 residential units at Adamstown, near Lucan in Co Dublin.

The proposal is for a mix of houses, apartments and duplexes, and 222 car-parking spaces and a pedestrian walkway connecting the proposed Castlegate Row and Castlegate Copse with Adamstown Avenue.

In February, the launch of the first phase of 330 units at Castlethorn's Adamstown Castle development attracted huge interest which prompted the immediate release of a second phase of units. Castlethorn is developing the massive Adamstown project jointly with Maplewood Homes and Tierra Construction.

Adamstown is the first scheme in the Government's Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) initiative which was designed to fast-track planning for starter homes. Adamstown will ultimately provide 10,000 new homes.
