Council says yes to 714 homes planned for Stepaside:A major housing development near Stepaside village in south County Dublin has been given approval by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

Park Developments has been given approval to build 714 houses, duplexes and apartments at Clay Farm, Kilgobbin Road, Ballyogan in Dublin 18.

The scheme is the first phase of a larger development that will see around 2,000 houses built on Park's 33-hectare landholding in the area. The first phase will also have a neighbourhood centre comprising offices, a crèche and retail units.

It also involves the provision of a 5.3-hectare public park. Part of the scheme will have frontage onto Ballyogan Road, near the future Luas stop at Leopardstown Valley shopping centre, part of the Luas extension from Sandyford to Cherrywood.

Myles O'Malley of O'Malley Construction has been given approval by Dublin City Council to refurbish a large Victorian house on Clyde Road in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. O'Malley plans to extend and refurbish 23 Clyde Road, a three-storey protected structure which has been in office use for some years. He is also looking to change the use of the upper ground, first and first-floor mezzanine levels from office to residential use.

161 homes for Chapelizod

A 161-unit residential scheme is in the pipeline for Chapelizod. Woodgreen Property Partners is seeking to build 161 apartments and duplexes on the site of Faulkner Industries at Chapelizod Hill. The developer is seeking permission from Dublin City Council to demolish the factory and replace it with apartments and duplexes. The developer intends to build four apartment blocks on the site, ranging in height from two to five storeys.

Bord rejects 396 homes planned for site at Ballycullen

An Bord Pleanála has upheld a decision by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council to refuse permission for a major residential scheme at Woodtown, Ballycullen, Dublin 16.

Plans by Ballycullen Ltd Partnership to construct 396 residential units at the foothills of the Dublin mountains "fail to reflect and respect" the amenity of the Dublin mountains and would be "unduly visually obtrusive", according to An Bord Pleanála.
