The closing date for nominations for the Presidential Distinguished Service Award for the Irish Abroad is approaching this Wednesday, April 22nd.
The awards recognise the service given to Ireland or Irish communities overseas by people who live outside the country for their work in Irish community support; arts, culture and sport; charitable works; business and education; and peace, reconciliation and development.
Recipients of the awards last year included actress Fionnula Flanagan, EU civil servant Catherine Day, author Thomas Kenneally and Irish-American activist and publisher Niall O'Dowd. Read profiles of all the 2014 recipients here.
The nomination form for the 2015 awards, more information and a list of previous winners can be found on the Department of Foreign Affairs website.
Forms must be submitted to the Irish embassy where the nominee is resident by this Wednesday April 22nd, for return to the Department of Foreign Affairs by Monday 27th.
