This is what the new facelifted BMW 7-Series will look like when its
introduced in spring 2005.

The new look will feature a mildly reworked, softer front end design with a
wider grille and revised bumpers, and a less awkward rear profile in direct
response to feedback from customers scared off by the challenging styling.
The revised model will also feature a new boot, and the lid-mounted
rear-lamps will be ditched.

The boot lid itself will get a lower rear edge (though a fake rear spoiler on this prototype is there to mislead).
The changes are intended to counteract disappointing sales, especially in the all-important American market.
The revisions will, however,be more than cosmetic:the 4.4-litre V8 engine is
to be expanded to 4.8 litres, with output said to be raised to around 400 bhp.

The 6-litre V12 will also be modified, gaining a direct-injection fuel system, though power will not reach the 500 bhp mark that honour has to be reserved for BMW ’s other super-saloon, the Rolls-Royce Phantom.
