Routes to avoid around the country during the week ahead
DUBLIN: Speed ramps in Phoenix Park between Cabra Gate and Garda Headquarters. The ramps are quite high, so gardaí are urging extreme care and to reduce speed. Building carriageway and footpaths on Harcourt Street, includes digging up the existing road and paths and reconstruction. Traffic will move onto the track bed. Will commence at the Harcourt St end and continue towards St Stephens Green. Two lanes of traffic at all times, except at the site of the work where it will be one lane.
Elsewhere, northbound lane restrictions on N1 at Walshestown exit. Traffic diverted to hard shoulder, get into lane early. Works then move along N1 until Gormanstown. Single lane traffic for about four kilometres. 40 mph speed limit. Expect long delays at peak times.
KILDARE: Temporary traffic diversion on N4 west of Kilcock. Westbound traffic diverted towards central reserve via a concrete barrier corridor to make room for the new bridge. Eastbound traffic will be slightly moved towards the hard shoulder. Diversions while new bridges on Kilcock to Kinnegad bypass are built. Minor delays.
MEATH: Works on N3 (Main St) in Dunshaughlin until February 13th, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Alternative route via Fairyhouse cross, Trim road (R154) to Batterjohn Cross then to Dunsany to rejoin the N3 at Ross Cross.
LOUTH: Lane closures on M1 from Monasterboice to Dundalk, to install safety barrier. This section has had serious and fatal incidents caused by speeding and resulting in vehicles crossing the central reserve into the line of oncoming traffic. Lane closure at 6 a.m. until 6.30 p.m. for the next week. 50 mph speed limit for the area, extra caution should be taken. Gardaí will monitor drivers and access safety issues while the works progress.
KILKENNY: One-way system on High St from The Parade to Bateman Quay northbound. Single lane one-way only in northerly direction (i.e., The Parade to Parliament Street) Parking and loading restrictions apply. The system is to facilitate ongoing Broadband Telecommunication works. Delays likely.
ROSCOMMON: Traffic lights on main N4 between Carrick on Shannon and Boyle.
WATERFORD: Mall Lane will remain closed for the next six months. Diversion signs in place. Works on Tramore Road Roundabout between Cork Road and the Esso Garage, Monday to Friday, 8.30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
WICKLOW: Ongoing works on N11 at the Glen o' the Downs, 40 mph speed limit.
CORK: Old Youghal Road closed for Bord Gáis works. Shandon Street will one-way outbound until March 31st, diversion signs in place.
Works on N71 at Viaduct Dual Carriageway, citybound lane closed. All Citibank traffic diverted to the westbound carriageway, and in lieu of the Dual Carriageway system, two-way traffic system will be in place on the westbound carriageway.
