CAIT McGUIRE and Paul Byrne were married on September 27th in McCreddin Chapel at BrookLodge Hotel in Co Wicklow by Fr Joe Ryan.

Cait is the daughter of Sean and Anne Maguire and grew up in Blackrock, Co Dublin. She has two sisters and one brother. She went to school in Sion Hill in Blackrock and from there went to UCD, where she received a BA in social science. She then went to the Fitzwilliam Institute to study PR and marketing. She currently runs an advertising agency called the Engine Room and prior to that worked with Owens DDB, Associated Newspapers, TV3 and Today FM.

Her sisters, Doireann and Treasa Maguire, along with her cousin Deirdre Murphy and friend Johanna Dinn, served as her bridesmaids.

Paul grew up in Ballymount, Dublin, and is the son of Bernadette and Brian Byrne. He has two brothers and three sisters. He attended Drimnagh Castle in Walkinstown and studied graphic art at DIT Bolton Street. He is a digital print specialist and co-owner of Inc Design Display.

His best man was Ronan Maguire and his groomsmen were Niall Breslin, Jonathan Keane and Paul Hogan.

The couple met on a snowboarding trip in Austria more than four years ago. “We were actually on a ski trip with our respective friends and just happened to be at the same resort at the same time. We were friends for a while before we realised there was a little bit more to our friendship,” says Cait.

They became engaged last June and were married four months later. “Paul got down on bended knee at a family occasion and popped the question.”

They had 120 guests at their wedding, with music provided in the chapel by harpist Emer Kenny.

“Murphy and Ali [our dogs] carried the rings down the aisle to us. They had little pouches around their necks and when it came to the big moment they were brought to the altar. They behaved very well in the church,” says Cait.

They live in Stepaside, Co Dublin, and are planning to go to Mauritius and South Africa in January for their wedding trip.
