THE SOCIAL NETWORK: The crowd was spilling out into Temple Bar on Thursday from All City Records, on Crow Street, for the launch of Homebird clothing by the graffiti artist Maser and the stylist Leah Burke. Maser said, "That's what we are, homebirds," and their philosophy of "love and positivity" is one they wanted to carry into the clothing line. He was wearing one of their T-shirt designs inspired by Dublin Castle; Burke's referenced the Guaranteed Irish logo.
Lots of friends came out to support them, including some who need only one name, such as the DJ Chewy and the designer Gianni. Gianni’s girlfriend, the jewellery designer Jennifer Quinn, joked that he’s “like Cher”.
Chewy and James English, who run the Gentlemen’s Academy, organising events for men apart from going to the pub, were looking forward to some “daytime dancing” at their Disco Brunch in Coppinger Row tomorrow. Ladies are welcome. Chewy’s dog Rosie was also present – and was the centre of attention outside.
Andrea Horan of the recently opened nail bar Tropical Popical, on South William Street, was there. After 12 years in PR, she opened the shop with her sister Michelle after a trip to the US, where they got their nails done cheaply every three days. They are opening a second branch in Dublin in March.
