Podcast: take the 10km ski challenge for World Snow Day

Podcast: The Ski Centre in Sandyford is challenging skiers to ski 10km non-stop on its indoor ski slopes for charity and help make ski slopes open to all. Here, Gary Quinn meets the staff and some of Ireland's best young skiers

Sunday January 17th is World Snow Day which is all about getting people involved in snow sports all over the world. To mark it, the Ski Centre in Sandyford in Dublin is hosting a two-day 10km ski challenge to raise funds to make their indoor ski centre more accessible for people with assisted and addtional needs.

The centre currently coachs people with conditions such as aspergers and cerebral palsy how to ski, particularly children, and wants to expand this work to include people in wheelchairs and people with other mobility or sensory conditions. The goal is to make thier indoor slopes as accessible to people with additional needs as it already is for professional skiers and young people training to become professional.

In this podcast we meet some of the staff, coaches and customers of the ski centre and hear why learning to ski in a country without snow is no impediment to winning medals. For more see skicentre.ie
