UP TO SCRATCH "They are the Dolly Partons of the turkey world" says Garry Crocker of his free range organic turkeys (left), going on sale for the first time this Christmas. A breed of white turkey known as B22, they are specially bred for breast development, and in Wicklow they get plenty of leg exercise too, scratching around in their wild, clover filled fields in Glenealy. The Crockers also intend to have free-range organic chickens ready for sale by next summer. In the meantime, their oven-ready, dressed turkeys in small, medium or large weights (10-12lbs, 15-16lbs and 16-20lbs) are €4.50 a pound and will be ready for delivery from December 21st-24th. As well as a number of drop-off locations in Dublin, the turkeys can be delivered countrywide for a small extra charge. Contact the Crockers at 0404-44854 or 086-8188440. -Deirdre McQuillan
