A round-up of current travel deals in brief
Formula 1
A turbulent season in Formula 1 ended with Lewis Hamilton (below) becoming the youngest ever champion. He'll be looking to defend his title when the Formula 1 season commences at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne in March.
The first race in Europe will be the Spanish Grand Prix, held from May 8th to 10th; two weeks later, the Formula 1 roadshow lands in Monte Carlo, still the most glamorous sporting event in the world; while the British Grand Prix from June 19th to 21st will be the final Formula 1 race held at the historic Silverstone racetrack.
• The Travel Department (www.thetraveldepartment.ie, 01-6371600) and Dawson Travel (www.dawson-travel.com, 01-6618900) have a package to the Monaco Grand Prix from €799 per person, which includes return flights from Dublin to Nice, transfers, Cote d'Azur accommodation and general admission for qualifying on the Saturday and Sunday.
Keith Prowse (www.keithprowse.com/ie, 01-8783500) is offering three-day packages to the British Grand Prix from June 19th to 21st from €402.21, which includes accommodation in London or Luton, transfers and a three-day admission ticket to Silverstone.
• Club Travel (www.clubtravel.ie, 01-6080030) is offering a three-night package to the Spanish Grand Prix in May, held at the Catalunya Circuit, 12 miles northeast of Barcelona, costing from €929 per person, not including taxes. The package includes flights to Barcelona, four-star accommodation, transfers to the circuit and grandstand seats for the Saturday and Sunday.
• Club Travel is also offering packages to the Monaco and Italian grands prix, from €899, while The Travel Department has three-night packages to the Spanish GP from €739 per person, including taxes, with three-star accommodation on the Costa Brava.
