Co Cork Walking LeesideLee Valley Walking has lined up some outings to help brush off the Christmas cobwebs. Tomorrow it is leading a hillwalk on the Sugar Loaf in Glengarriff. The price for non-members is €15.
On New Year's Day it has a gentler walk at the woods in Ballyvourney, free of charge. All are welcome. The group will also have a hillwalk tomorrow week, January 4th, at Ridge Walk, on Sheep's Head Peninsula. www.leevalleywalking.com.
Co Dublin Night walkThe Art O'Neill Challenge walk takes place on Friday, January 9th. This sponsored 55km walk starts at midnight outside Dublin Castle and passes through the capital's suburbs before heading into the wild hills for Glenmalure, in Co Wicklow. The walk is being organised in aid of the Stuart Mangan Appeal. Mangan suffered a devastating spinal injury last April after a simple tackle in a club rugby game in London. Co Wicklow Extreme walksDo you fancy trying something a bit different when it comes to hillwaking? Extreme Ireland's three- to four-hour Full Moon Walks aim to offer a spectacular opportunity to experience the mountains during the full moon - and to gain an insight into local wildlife at night.
