Barisal - Hopes were fading for an estimated 100 people missing after a ferry capsized in southern Bangladesh, officials said yesterday. The ferry, with a capacity of 150 passengers, sank in the vast Meghna river estuary on Saturday. Up to 60 people were rescued by fishermen and others vessels, the Bhola district administration, Chief Moizuddin Khan, said by telephone.
Chief Khan, who visited the scene yesterday, said strong waves and winds made it difficult to locate the sunken vessel. Hopes were fading of finding many more people alive.
