The Chinese authorities have executed another 17 convicted murderers, grave robbers, rapists and smugglers in the run-up to the Lunar New Year holidays, state media said yesterday.
Media reports over the last week show at least 55 people have been executed in a crackdown aimed at ensuring the holiday season, which starts on FEBRUARY 16th, is not marred by crime.
Each year China executes more prisoners than the rest of the world combined.
