A heroin addict has been jailed for 10 years by Judge Kieran O'Connor at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for two armed robberies, including a raid on a Virgin cinema in Dublin in which £19,000 was stolen.

Philip Tormey (23), from Whitestown Drive, Dublin, pleaded guilty to two charges of armed robbery and one charge of possession of a firearm. The offences occurred between December 5th, 1999 and January 10th, 2000.

Judge O'Connor urged Tormey to use his time in jail wisely and set a sentence review for March 14th, 2005.
