Seven US soldiers troops from the Nato-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) were killed in two separate bomb attacks in southern Afghanistan today.

Five troops were killed by a roadside bomb in one incident while two others died in a separate bomb attack, ISAF said in a statement. It gave no other details.

The deaths bring to 14 the number of US troops killed in action in eastern and southern Afghanistan over the past three days.

A surge in US troop numbers in Afghanistan to over 120,000 has brought increased fighting and a rising death toll. Some 49 US service members have died in Afghanistan this month.
