Afghan villagers condemn raid by US troops

Afghan villagers have protested their treatment at the hands of US-led coalition forces.

Afghan villagers have protested their treatment at the hands of US-led coalition forces.

Residents of Band Taimore alleged soldiers in four helicopters swooped down on their homes shortly after midnight on Friday. They said soldiers tied women's hands and that a terrified three-year-old girl died.

It is understood the soldiers blew holes with explosives in the high walls surrounding homes and threw grenades inside. The villagers said 50 men were taken away.

The details of the action match an operation announced on Friday by the US military. It said it had captured 50 people about 48 miles west of Kandahar, which is roughly the location of Band Taimore.
