BERLIN - An Austrian airliner was hijacked yesterday en route from Berlin to Vienna, but the hijacker was soon overpowered, German and Austrian officials said.
Sources close to the German government said the McDonnell-Douglas aircraft carrying 28 people was hijacked after it took off from Berlin's Tegel airport yesterday bound for Vienna. The hijacker forced the aircraft to turn around and it later landed back in Berlin.
