Just under 5,000 new Personal Retirement Savings Accounts (PRSAs) were taken out in the second quarter of 2006, the Pensions Board announced today.

In total, some 78,043 PRSAs have now been taken out, compared with 73,322 at the end of the second quarter, with a total value of €544.76 million.

There are now 59,887 standard PRSAs and 18,156 non-standard PRSAs. More than 78,500 employers have signed up with a PRSA provider and 31,154 employees have taken out PRSAs through their employer.
