Soccer:Brazilian midfielder Anderson is expected to return to Manchester this week after escaping with only minor injuries from a horrific car crash in Portugal.
The 22-year-old Manchester United player had to be pulled out of the wreckage of his Audi 8 sports car shortly before it burst into flames after hitting a wall in the early hours of Saturday.
An official at the Sao Marcos hospital in Braga said that Anderson and two people involved in the crash were discharged on Saturday afternoon having only suffered “light injuries”.
The Gestifute agency, Anderson’s Portugal-based representatives, told local media: “It was an almighty fright. Anderson will return soon to Manchester to continue his rehabilitation.”
The Brazilian is still recovering from a ruptured cruciate ligament injury that he suffered in February.
