A first anniversary Mass for murder victim Siobhán Kearney (38) will be held in Dalkey, Co Dublin, this evening.
The mother of one was found dead in a bedroom of her home in Goatstown, Dublin, on February 28th, 2006.
She had been strangled with the flex of a vacuum cleaner and her body had been locked in a bedroom at the house which she shared with her husband, Brian, and three-year-old son Dan. Her son was in the house at the time.
The couple owned a small hotel in Majorca and divided their time between the Sóller region and Dublin.
Last month the Dublin County Coroner's Court adjourned a full inquest into her death for six months pending the outcome of the Director of Public Prosecutions' (DPP) deliberations on the case.
Gardaí sent a file to the DPP in late July-early August. It is understood that the file recommended the prosecution of the chief suspect. He was arrested soon after the murder and again last June under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, but he has never been charged in relation to the death.
A Garda spokesman said yesterday the file had been sent to the DPP's office and it was now a matter for that office.
The DPP does not comment on individual cases but a spokeswoman said there was no deadline for a decision from the DPP in such a case.
The anniversary Mass for Ms Kearney will be held in the church of the Assumption, Dalkey, at 7.30pm today.
