Gardaí are investigating an armed raid in Frenchpark, Co Roscommon, yesterday morning in which the takings from a local nightclub were stolen.
The raid happened at Corskeagh, Frenchpark, at 2.45 a.m. when a woman was returning to her home with the takings. As she was getting out of her car, two men approached. Both were wearing balaclavas and one was carrying a firearm. They took the money and left the scene.
Meanwhile, in Co Monaghan a couple were yesterday recovering after an armed raid on their home at Lisnagrieve, off the Keady/ Castleblayney Road. Their car and several thousand euro were taken after two armed and masked men entered their home and forced them to lie on the floor. Their house was ransacked.
