Sister Sarah Clarke, who campaigned in the 1970s and 1980s for Irish prisoners in Britain, has died.

Sister Sarah Clarke, who campaigned in the 1970s and 1980s for Irish prisoners in Britain, has died.

The Irish-born nun of the La Sainte Union order was a central figure in the campaigns to release the Birmingham Six and the Guildford Four.

She is credited with introducing UK lawyer Ms Garreth Pierce and Labour MP Mr Chris Mullin to the cases. Sr Clarke was 82.
