Body of a man found in Dingle harbour

The body of a man, believed to be a local fisherman in his 50s, was taken from the water in Dingle harbour early yesterday.

The body of a man, believed to be a local fisherman in his 50s, was taken from the water in Dingle harbour early yesterday.

The body was recovered shortly after 8am near the marina area but had not been in the water for long.

A postmortem is scheduled for this morning at Kerry General Hospital. The man was not being named until his relatives were contacted.

There were no early indications of foul play. It was thought the man might have slipped and fallen on his way to a boat. Gardaí are awaiting results of the postmortem.
