Moscow - The Bolshoi Theatre lost its artistic director yesterday, when he was summarily sacked by presidential decree

Moscow - The Bolshoi Theatre lost its artistic director yesterday, when he was summarily sacked by presidential decree. Vladimir Vasilyev (60), a former Bolshoi star, had held the post for five years.

The theatre, which opened in 1780, houses the famed Bolshoi ballet troupe and an opera company.
