The book is a veritable action rollercoaster; it opens with the death of her manager and exlover David Whiting, who was found dead on her bathroom floor amid a scandalised crescendo of gossip, and there's never a dull moment thereafter as she moves through a separation from, and eventual reconciliation with, husband Robert Bolt and chronicles in muscular, determined prose both his physical deterioration after a massive stroke and her own otherworldly spiritual flowering.
