The Donegal county board will hope to bring their latest football-management crisis toward a dignified end tomorrow evening, when they meet with jilted joint-managerial contenders Declan Bonner and Charlie Mulgrew.
The pair withdrew their candidacy for the job on Friday after it emerged it had been withheld from ratification so the board could hear from fellow hopeful John Joe Doherty, on why he should still be considered to take over from Brian McIvor.
Bonner has called for personnel changes at county board level and strongly criticised the executive members, but retains hope that he and Mulgrew can take charge of the footballers ahead of the new season.
The five-man selection committee has since heard from Doherty. It comprises of chairman Seán Kelly, secretary Charlie O'Donnell, treasurer Charlie Cannon, former manager PJ McGowan and former player Seán Ferriter
Last week the Donegal footballers had their say on the matter, claiming they had no preferred candidate but that changes at board level may be required.
"The players wish to make it clear that we have no issue with any of the candidates for the job, and we believe all hold valid credentials. However, in light of the breakdown of the appointment process, we would call on club delegates now to reappraise the position of a number of senior executives in the county board," a statement read.
