Lee Bowyer today made it clear he still plans to leave Elland Road and the sacking of manager David O’Leary will not influence his decision.

Bowyer has failed to put pen to paper on a new five-year deal and was last month transfer-listed.

He had already been transfer-listed earlier in the season after refusing to pay a club-imposed disciplinary fine, and is believed to want a new start in football after almost six years at the club.

David Giess, Bowyer’s agent, has said the events of the last 24-hours at the Yorkshire club will have no bearing on Bowyer's decision and that "Nothing has changed."

"Nothing has changed," said accountant Giess. "Lee is still on the transfer list."
