Business investment in Britain rose 0.5 per cent in the second quarter of this year in an increase of 2.2 per cent on the same period a year earlier, official figures showed today.
According to the the Office for National Statistics, business investment for the region reached £28.26 billion in the three months to June.
Investment by manufacturing rose by 3.4 per cent on the quarter and by 1.2 per cent year-on-year, while investment by the service sector fell by 1 per cent on the quarter but rose by 4 per cent on the year.
The ONS is due to publish its second estimate of second-quarter economic growth tomorrow; most analysts are predicting an upward revision.
